What Is The Bottom Drawer On A Stove For
Olivia Luz
The bottom drawer is for storing oven trays and other cooking utensils the manual says.
The food website explained that if you have an electric oven the drawer is likely intended as a space to keep food warm. The drawer under your oven is actually a warming drawer and can keep hot food warm but don t try to heat cold or room temperature foods in it cold or room temperature foods cannot be heated. But regardless of what you put in it we bet you aren t using that space for its intended purpose. The drawer can be used for heat safe cookware and pans.
Over the years i ve realized that many people don t know what that drawer under their oven is for. If your oven is electric the purpose of the bottom drawer is most likely to keep cooked foods warm. Some guess that it s for storage others say broiling and others claim it s a warming drawer. It can get very warm don t store anything in it which may melt or catch fire.
Perhaps like me you use that drawer located underneath your stove for storing pans cookie sheets and muffin tins. If you re like us you probably use that big drawer underneath your stove to hoard cookie sheets muffin tins and bulky skillets. In the storage drawer because the drawer can get warm or even hot while cooking in or self cleaning the oven. What s false not all ovens have warming drawers and the bottom drawer on some ovens is used for storage purposes instead.
