By three years of age a child should have a vocabulary of 600 words with 80 percent intelligibility to a listener who does not know the child. He can draw a circle. Your toddler is learning how to talk about things that have happened during the day. Three year olds also start getting better at small muscle movements like when using markers.
Your busy preschooler continues to be on the move. Your 3 year old is ready and willing to make new friends but he still needs some help from you. At three years toddlers can usually use sentences of 3 5 words or even more. Three year olds tend to engage in parallel.
By three years of age a child can balance briefly on one foot go up and down the stairs with ease and alternating feet walk in a straight line and ride a tricycle well. Arrange playdates with a small regular group of peers. They will listen attentively to short stories and books. They will talk in complete sentences of 3 5 words.

Most 3 year olds are able to walk a line balance on a low balance beam skip or gallop and walk backward. They can usually pedal a tricycle catch a large ball and jump with two feet. Your toddler will start learning how to take turns when speaking and might be able to have a short conversation with you. A three year old should have clear speech in which 75 to 80 percent of their speech is understandable.
Some three year olds will stumble over words sometimes but this is usually not a sign of stuttering. A typical 2 year old can say about 50 words and speak in two and three word sentences.
