What Is The Difference Between Lox And Smoked Salmon
Olivia Luz
Smoked salmon is cured or brined then smoked.
There are different ways in which lox can be prepared whereas smoked salmon can only be prepared through one method. Another difference between the two is that smoked salmon is more popular as compared to lox as it develops a special taste after being prepared. Lox came about in the pre refrigeration days as a way to preserve fish during transport. The difference between smoked salmon and lox in traditional processing lox is never smoked.
Cured salmon has a similar texture but without any smoke flavor. Lox is cured but not smoked.
