What Is The Difference Between Ionic And Molecular Compounds

Molecular compounds are formed between two non metals while ionic compounds are formed between metals and non metals.
What is the difference between ionic and molecular compounds. Ionic compounds are made of ionic bonds where the atoms are electrostatically attracted towards each other. Molecular compounds are formed due to covalent bond between elements while ionic compound is formed due to electrostatic force of attraction known as ionic bond. An ionic compound is formed when metals react with non metals in which ions are held together by ionic bond while a molecular compound is formed when atoms share electrons in outermost energy level to form compound and are held together by a strong covalent bond.
A molecule or compound is made when two or more atoms form a chemical bond linking them together. Ionic compounds are the chemical compounds that have cations and anions that bind to each other via ionic bonding while molecular compounds are chemical compounds containing atoms bonded to each other via covalent chemical bonds. Ionic compounds are more reactive than molecular compounds. Ionic compound is a chemical compound of cations and anions which are held together by ionic bonds in a lattice structure.
The two types of bonds are ionic bonds and covalent bonds. Metals react with non metals. Covalent compound is a chemical bond formed by the sharing of one or more electrons especially pairs of electrons between atoms. Ionic compounds are charged ions whereas molecular compounds consist of molecules.

Molecular compounds have low melting and boiling point as compare to the ionic compounds. The main difference between ionic and molecular compounds is that the electrons of atoms in ionic compounds are transferred between the elements because of the presence of a difference in electronegativity. Formed when metallic bodies react or bond together with a non metallic substance by means of an electrical attraction. Molecular compounds are poor electrical conductors while ionic compounds are good conductors.
Ionic compounds occur through the interaction between cations and anions. Molecular compounds can be in any physical state solid liquid or gas. Atoms share electrons with other elements. The distinction between them has to do with how equally the atoms participating in the bond share their electrons.
Atoms connected to each other by electrically neutral particles known as molecules while sharing electrons.
