Acquired immunity is the resistance against infecting foreign substance that an individual acquires or adapts during the course of life. The key difference between innate and adaptive immunity is that innate immunity is a fast immune response that provides the first line of immunological defence against infections while adaptive immunity is a slow immune response mediated by the t and b lymphocytes. Innate immunity is non specific faster response while adaptive immunity is specific and slower response. The main difference between innate immunity and adaptive immunity is that innate immunity generates a non specific immune response against the pathogen whereas adaptive immunity generates a specific immune response against a particular pathogen.
