This type of water is used in many industries due to it being purified including the cosmetic mechanical and medical sectors to mention a few.
Distilled water is a type of water that has gone through a process of distillation that strips it of any contaminants and minerals. Another difference between distilled water and purified water is that distilled water is more expensive because of energy required for boiling the water to bring it to the form of steam. Distilled water is completely pure with no impurities or any minerals. While they undergo very different processes the end goal is the same.
The only major difference lies in the specification of their purification processes. The main difference between distilled water and purified water is that distilled water is obtained from distillation and is free from contaminants and natural minerals whereas purified water is purified from different purification methods to remove any chemicals or contaminants. Mineral and chemical impurities are removed to provide clean pure water. While both are widely used methods of water purification at home they have distinct functionalities.
Distilled water is a type of purified water that is essentially free from contaminants. Distilled is a type of purified water. Being essentially the same thing they can t really compete against each other. Level of purification is dependent upon the number of filters use and also upon the person carrying out the purification procedure.
