What Is The Difference Between A Mesa And A Butte
Olivia Luz
One standard holds that a mesa has a surface area over 1 000 square meters while a butte has a surface area less than 1 000 square meters 11 250 square feet.
As nouns the difference between mesa and butte is that mesa is flat area of land or plateau higher than other land with one or more clifflike edges while butte is us an isolated hill with steep sides and a flat top. A butte is smaller and less flat at the top compared to a butte. Due to the forces of erosion a mesa eventually gets reduced to a butte. A butte and a mesa are both geological landscape formations.
