If you don t want to wear both your engagement ring and wedding ring on the same hand there are a couple of things you can do.
Depending on the culture a wedding ring is typically worn on the base of the left or right ring finger. It is also the custom in some cultures to wear an engagement ring on the ring finger. It s also perfect for those who prefer not to stack more than one ring on a finger. After the ceremony the engagement ring is then placed on top of the new wedding band.
Western customs for wedding rings can be traced to ancient rome. Modern jewish couples often place the wedding ring on the right hand s ring finger during the marriage ceremony and then wear it on the left hand s ring finger post ceremony. As for determining what hand does the wedding ring go on the choice is really up to you. It is usually forged from metal and traditionally is forged of gold or another precious metal.
In some cultures the wedding ring is worn on the ring finger of the left hand and in others it is on the right hand. That said nearly all men opt for a simple gold or silver band for their wedding engagement rings. With this you may wonder what happens to your engagement ring. However according to the old tradition and also seen today in some of the more conservative jewish ceremonies the index finger or the thumb are used.

Some prefer wearing their engagement ring on their left ring finger and their wedding band on their right ring finger. In western cultures traditionally wedding rings are exchanged during a couple s wedding ceremony on the engagement ring finger. Traditionally a wedding ring was worn only by the bride wife but in recent times more men also wear a wedding ring. Just before the wedding ceremony the engagement ring is exchanged onto the right hand so the wedding ring can be placed onto the left hand to be worn closest to the heart.
A bride and groom typically exchange rings during their wedding ceremony placing the ring on each other s wedding ring finger the fourth finger of the left hand after saying their vows.
