The primary difference from plant cells is that animal cells don t contain chloroplast nor structurally important cell walls.

Plant cells have chloroplasts and chlorophyll. Firstly plant cells contain chloroplasts that allow them to photosynthesise and produce energy. Plants and animals have cells that to a great extent have the same. Animal cells are also generally smaller and have more variety in shape than do plant cells.

Both animal and plant cells are eukaryotic meaning that they have a nucleus and membrane bound organelles. Plant cells contain plastids small structures that aid in photosynthesis. Additionally plant cells have a cell wall and a cell membrane while animal cells only have a cell membrane. Plant cells have chloroplasts for manufacturing chlorophyll.

Plant and animal cells are both eukaryotic cells so they have several features in common such as the presence of a cell membrane and cell organelles like the nucleus mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum. As animal cells do not photosynthesise they do not need chloroplasts. It is obvious why animal cells lack in chloroplast as there is no process of photosynthesis that generates food for the cells animal cells create their energy via different process. Plant cells contain cell walls that provide a physical barrier offer structural support and prevent the cell from bursting under osmotic pressure.

Animal cells are mostly round and irregular in shape while plant cells have fixed rectangular shapes. Plant cells have two things animal cells dont. Animal cells don t have plastids. An animal cell is a round cell.

They are composed primarily of cellulose and surround the membrane. For example animal cells do not have a cell wall or chloroplasts but plant cells do. Plant cells also have a cellulose cell wall in addition to the cellular membrane. Animals cells don t contain any of these.

What organelles are present in plant cells. They both are cells of course. Animal cells need a greater connectivity and do not require the individual barrier thus cell walls are unnecessary. This provides the plant with additional support when it absorbs water through osmosis.

But animal cells dont have 2 things that plant cells dont contain. Plant cells have a cell wall cholorplasts and cellulose.
